An Indiana dog who was constantly crying at a shelter received good news after a video of their distress reached thousands on Facebook.
An Indiana shelter resident, Major, gained notoriety on social media after spending over 260 days there.
A pup who spent over 260 days at an Indiana shelter is now in a happier situation.
A 4-year-old terrier pit bull mix, Major, was admitted to the Humane Society for Hamilton County as a stray.
Upon their arrival, the team at the shelter contacted the number on the microchip.
According to a Facebook post shared by the Humane Society for Hamilton County, Major's family was supposed to pick him up, but they did not show up.
After spending time in his kennel, Major became stressed and spent his evenings crying "endlessly" in his room.
A sorrowful Major's post received over 260,000 views, with the hope that staff could assist in finding him a loving family, excluding cats.
The pup has finally found a loving family, and Major's tears have stopped.
After Major captured the hearts of social media users, the Humane Society shared the news in an updated Facebook post.
On May 18, a heartwarming video was shared showing Major happily saying goodbye to his employees before leaving with his adoptive family.
The Facebook post stated, "As he exited with his new family, we couldn't help but feel a significant emptiness in our hearts, but it was quickly replaced with joy knowing that he had found his ideal partner."
Since the start of Major's story, hundreds of thousands of users have continued to receive good news updates.
"Thanks to your support and kindness, Major's story reached a wider audience and led him to his new family. The humane society staff is grateful for your help in spreading Major's tale," the staff wrote.
"We are grateful for your participation in Major's journey and for your role in making miracles occur."
The Humane Society urged the public to remember the numerous animals in need of homes.
"Each dog at the shelter has their own unique story, and while not all of them have gained viral fame, they all deserve love, care, and a permanent home. The shelter can be a stressful environment for them, and they anxiously await their turn for adoption every day."
"They are brimming with love and are eager to transform your world."
