Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka, is known for her active lifestyle.

The 43-year-old mother of three kids and lover of outdoor sports has recently taken up jiu-jitsu as a new form of physical activity.

During a recent podcast episode of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her, Trump revealed that her daughter, Arabella, showed interest in learning self-defense at the age of 11.

"Trump expressed admiration for his daughter, stating, "She came to me and said, 'As a woman, I feel like I need to know how to defend myself, and I don't have a confidence level yet that I can do that.'""

Trump stated, "At 11, I was not contemplating physical self-defense and considered it to be exciting."

Arabella, now 13, was enrolled in jiu-jitsu (martial arts) classes with the Valente Brothers in Miami, Florida by Trump after researching self-defense options, and soon the whole family joined in.

"Arabella invited me to join, and I did. Then my sons followed suit, just like their older sister. My husband joined too, and it was beneficial for all of us."

"It’s almost like a moving meditation."

Trump, now a blue belt in jiu-jitsu, described how she enjoys the way the sport combines physical movement.

"The movements are so micro that it feels like a moving meditation," she said. "It's like playing three-dimensional chess."

"The spiritualism present is akin to a real grounding in samurai tradition, culture, and wisdom."

In her first term as First Lady, Ivanka Trump admitted that she paid little attention to fitness, only going for weekly runs with her husband Jared Kushner and chasing after their children.

Trump stated that she never enjoyed going to the gym, but she always enjoyed participating in sports, which remains true to this day.

She stated that she likes skiing, surfing, and racquet sports such as padel tennis (a blend of tennis and squash) and pickle ball, which she characterized as "enjoyable and social."

‘Elevating awareness’

Trump mentioned on the podcast that she was attracted to jiu-jitsu due to its blend of physical fitness and philosophy.

She emphasized the importance of extracting oneself from a dangerous situation before resorting to harming someone who poses a threat.

Trump stated, "Possessing these abilities decreases the likelihood of getting into a fight, not increases it."

"When you feel confident in your ability to leave a situation, you can concentrate on increasing your awareness."

Gracie University's head instructor, Rener Gracie, emphasized in a previous interview with Planet Chronicle Digital that the most dependable abilities are those that have been "internalized through muscle memory."

Through extensive practice of self-defense techniques like Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which are "leverage-based and don't require a physical advantage over the subject," he emphasized.

"Having these skills makes you less likely to get into a fight, not more likely to."

"In most cases, attackers target physically inferior individuals due to their perceived strength, speed, power, and size."

Gracie, whose family founded Brazilian jiu-jitsu and the UFC, stated that the sport is popular because it takes only a few weeks or months to acquire the fundamental skills needed to protect oneself in a physical confrontation.

‘Transformative’ strength training

Ivanka Trump recently disclosed that she has changed her fitness regimen to incorporate weightlifting and resistance training, in addition to honing her self-defense abilities.

Trump shared a video on Instagram showcasing various exercises and equipment in the gym, mentioning that she used to concentrate mainly on cardio, yoga, and Pilates.

After relocating to Miami, my focus has shifted to weightlifting and resistance training, resulting in a transformative impact on my muscle building and body composition.

"I advocate for a strength training regimen that centers on basic, proven, and effective exercises such as squats, deadlifts, hinges, pushes, and pulls. These movements form the foundation of my workout, focusing on functional strength for daily life."

To ensure results, Trump emphasized the importance of prioritizing form before adding weight.

"To ensure a safe and steady progression while maintaining the integrity of each movement, I incorporate mobility work within my sessions to enhance range of motion."

She stated that weightlifting has improved not only her strength but also her athleticism and resilience.

She dedicates three to four days a week to strength training, including two solo sessions and two with a personal trainer, as stated by Trump.

She added that boosting her protein consumption has been "essential" to her advancement.

"She stated that she consumes between 30 and 50 grams of protein per meal and has never been stronger."

She said that Trump still enjoys weekly yoga sessions, spending time outdoors with her children, and playing sports with friends.

She added a few 10-minute high-intensity interval training sessions, including sprints, to her weekly routine to maintain her cardiovascular fitness and agility.

"My fitness routine has been revitalized by this balanced approach, resulting in impressive outcomes."
