A couple's love for Scrabble has kept them together for decades.

Their love of Scrabble, a game they have played together and separately for years, has contributed to their happy marriage.

They continue to compete in tournaments related to the game even after many years have passed.

Graham Harding and his spouse Helen Harding, both in their 60s, have been wed for more than 20 years.

In the 1990s, they met at Scrabble tournaments, as reported by news agency SWNS.

The couple met during a "special match" in 2000 and have remained together ever since.

Graham Harding is from the East Berkshire Scrabble Club in the U.K., and his wife Helen is from the Leicester Scrabble Club in the U.K.

This week, they have been competing in the UK Open Scrabble Championship held in Reading.

"The more words you know, the more ammunition you've got."

According to SWNS, Graham Harding stated that Scrabble is primarily dependent on possessing a strong vocabulary.

"But it is a Scrabble vocabulary — not necessarily everyday English."

For five years after their initial encounter, the couple considered themselves "casual friends."

Then they got together after a special match in Swindon.

They maintained a long-distance relationship before they got married in 2004.

The couple even brought their Scrabble board to their wedding.

Their wedding cake had the message "Helen and Graham" written in Scrabble letters, while the cake topper featured a message with Scrabble pieces that read "Congratulations on your wedding day."

They each picked up the hobby before they knew each other.

Since the COVID pandemic, the tournament that has been taking place this week is the first one to occur after a five-year hiatus. As of Friday, the couple has participated in approximately 20 games.
