Social media offers a wealth of advice on which vitamins and supplements are best for improving health.

A pharmacist in the U.K. and founder of The Pharmacist Beauty, Amina Khan, spoke to her nearly 300,000 TikTok followers about the three supplements she would never take.

In the video with almost one million views, she stated, "I believe you'll be taken aback by many of these."

Read on to find out the three she pinpointed.

1. Gummy vitamins

Although gummy vitamins can be tasty, Khan believes they are essentially just a sugar pill, she stated.

"You might as well go have a sweet," she said. "They are packed with sugar and filler ingredients, and I know so many of you are bingeing these."

Gummy supplements can cause mineral toxicity if consumed excessively, as warned by Khan.

She remarked that some of these gummies lack sufficient nutrients to produce any effect on you.

2. General multivitamins

General practitioners commonly suggest taking a multivitamin to meet the daily requirement of vital nutrients.

Khan pointed out that although multivitamins contain a variety of nutrients, the doses of each vitamin are often so low that they have little impact on the individual's health.

Khan stated that it's likely that individuals do not require all the vitamins present in a multivitamin.

3. Vitamins for hair, skin and nails

Vitamins that promote hair, nail, and skin health have gained popularity.

According to Khan, grouping all three into one pill is not a solution-focused approach.

She pointed out that the essential vitamins in these are frequently inadequate to produce any impact on you.

It is recommended to consult with a doctor for personalized advice on taking vitamins or supplements for those with questions.
