An albino alligator hatches in Florida: 'Rare species with estimated population of 100 to 200 individuals worldwide'
An alligator with albinism is born at a park in Kenansville, Florida.
An albino alligator has emerged from a successful breeding program aimed at producing albino gators.
The latest addition to Wild Florida's Gator Park in Kenansville is a pale gator.
The reptile's parents are also being cared for at the park where their eggs were kept in a controlled environment.
The parents, Snowflake and Blizzard, are the most proud of themselves for continuing to overcome challenges and provide a unique experience for guests, according to Andrew Ayala, a member of the 'croc squad' at Wild Florida, as stated in a press release.
The eggs were held in an incubator supervised by the squad.
Wild Florida is committed to providing the best environment for animals to thrive, even if it's nearly impossible for albino gators to reach maturity in the wild.
Snowflake and Blizzard’s last hatching occurred in the summer of 2022.
The pair have been living at Wild Florida for seven years.
According to Wild Florida, the number of albino gators is estimated to be between 100 to 200.
The absence of melanin in these gators causes their unique white skin and ruby-red eyes.
After a month of maturity, the new albino gator will be unveiled at Wild Florida's Gator Park.
