Trump and Zelenskyy discuss ending Russia's war at Trump Tower.
Trump bragged about his positive ties with both Zelenskyy and Putin, to which Zelenskyy responded by expressing hope that the relationship between Ukraine and the U.S. would be stronger than the one with Russia.
On Friday, at Trump Tower in New York City, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, met with former President Donald Trump. Trump stated that he has a "very good relationship" with Zelenskyy.
"Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of sharing our plan and steps to strengthen Ukraine. He explained to reporters that he met with both Trump and Vice President Harris because after November, it is uncertain who Americans will choose as their president."
After the meeting, Trump stated to Planet Chronicle that he and the other party both desire an end to the situation and a fair deal. He emphasized that the deal must be fair and believes it will occur at the appropriate time.
Neither Trump nor Zelenskyy publicly explained details of a potential deal.
"Trump praised Zelenskyy's visit, stating, "It's an honor to have the president with us, and he's been through a lot. In fact, he said, '[Zelenskyy has] gone through hell, his country has gone through hell.'""
After meeting with Harris in Washington, D.C., Zelenskyy had a meeting at Trump Tower.
On Thursday, Harris and Zelenskyy delivered a joint address at the White House, with Harris vowing to stand firm in supporting the Ukrainian effort and condemning Trump's idea of reaching a negotiated peace at the expense of some captured territories in the country.
Harris stated that some individuals in her country would prefer for Ukraine to relinquish significant portions of its sovereign territory, adopt neutrality, and abandon security ties with other nations.
On Friday, Zelenskyy confirmed that Trump holds the "common view that the war in Ukraine must end" after their meeting.
"On Friday, Trump stated that they would have a discussion to determine the course of action."
The leaders' brief conversation brought to light the gravity of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the U.S.'s responsibility to resolve the conflict.
""We have a very good relationship with President Putin, and I believe that if we win, the war will be resolved quickly," Trump stated."
"I hope we have more positive relations," Zelenskyy emphasized, expressing his desire for a stronger relationship with the U.S. than Russia.
"We will tango together," Trump replied.
