The UN receives a report from Israel detailing the "cruel" treatment inflicted by terrorists on hostages in Gaza.
An Israeli minister stated that certain actions are unacceptable and require global action.
The article contains graphic and disturbing accounts of the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel.
Detailed horrifying sexual violence, including assaults at gunpoint and forced undressing in front of captors, were experienced by women. Men also suffered sexual abuse, prolonged starvation, severe beatings, and torture involving branding with hot metal.

Despite some being released, 99 people are still imprisoned and suffering from unbearable conditions 14 months after the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack.
Or Levi, whose wife was killed during the Oct. 7 attack, is still being held. His brother, Michael Levi, expressed his grief in an interview, discussing the devastating effects of the Health Ministry's report.
Levi, who represented the families of hostages in a briefing to the U.N. Security Council last month, expressed deep frustration with the international community, particularly the United Nations, and said he holds little hope for meaningful action after the report. He told Planet Chronicle Digital that "for some reason, the Israeli side is not counted as human" and that the U.N. ignores the fact that Hamas is committing crimes against humanity.
"The thought of my brother, who is almost six feet three, struggling to stand up in dark, airless tunnels less than six feet tall, is unbearable when I consider the inhumane and horrible conditions that the hostages are in."
Negotiations to free the hostages are ongoing, but Levi's brother Or is not "on the lists" because he is young and not considered a "humanitarian case." Michael explained that his brother has a 3-year-old son who lost his mother on Oct. 7 and is now left alone. "If this is not a humanitarian case, I don’t know what is," he said.
Although he is frustrated, Levi believes that a change in approach may occur under Trump. "I'm optimistic that someone will do something," he said. "So far, the pressure on Hamas and their financiers, such as Qatar, Turkey, and Iran, has been insufficient. President Trump's more aggressive stance could lead to results."
"Uriel Busso, Israel's Health Minister, stated that the report being submitted to the U.N. is a harrowing testimony to the brutal experiences suffered by hostages in Hamas captivity. He emphasized that these actions cannot be tolerated and urged the world to take action."
The dire condition of hostages still held in Gaza highlights the widespread atrocities committed by Hamas, as stated by Dr. Hagar Mizrahi, head of the Ministry’s Medical Directorate. She emphasized the need for all efforts to be made to bring them back.
The report from the Ministry of Health is divided into two sections. The first section details the physical and psychological abuse experienced by hostages during their captivity, as reported by medical teams who treated the returnees. The second section focuses on rehabilitation strategies to aid in recovery, based on information from specialized clinics.
The report stated that psychological abuse was equally devastating as hostages were isolated and forced to witness acts of violence. Survivors reported intense trauma, including dissociative episodes, severe nightmares, and an overwhelming sense of guilt for leaving loved ones behind. Many remain unable to adjust to normal life, haunted by the horrors they endured.
The U.N. received an unequivocal statement from Minister Busso: "The testimonies in this report are a wake-up call for the international community to put more pressure on Hamas and its supporters to release all hostages immediately. This is a moral and humanitarian obligation, and time is running out to act."
