The UN is criticized by Milei of Argentina for supporting COVID lockdowns, which he sees as appeasing "dictatorships."
In a passionate speech, Argentinian President Javier Milei denounced COVID lockdowns as a violation of human rights.
In his inaugural speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Argentinian President Javier Milei criticized the organization, claiming it has evolved into a powerful beast with numerous arms that aims to dictate not only the actions of each nation-state but also the lifestyles of all global citizens.
According to a Reuters translation, he stated, "This is how we transitioned from a peace-seeking organization to one that enforces a dogmatic ideology on its members."
He criticized the "Pact for the Future" as "twisted" and the "wrong course" to follow, taking aim at the world body's latest offering.
Milei stated in his passionate speech that the adoption of this agenda aligns with privileged interests and goes beyond the principles outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, thus distorting the role of the organization and setting it on the wrong path.
The U.N. has been accused by Milei of becoming "one of the main proponents of systemic violations of freedom," due to its support for COVID pandemic lockdowns and allowing "bloody dictatorships" such as Venezuela to sit on the Human Rights Council "without reproach."
Milei declared that he disagrees with the pact for the future signed on Sunday and invited all nations of the free world to support him in opposing it, not only in the U.N., but also in establishing a new agenda for the institution that promotes freedom.
"The 'Pact for the Future' has lost credibility due to a long list of errors and contradictions, as Milei warned. We are approaching the end of a cycle, where collectivism, moral posturing, and the woke agenda are facing reality. There are no further credible solutions to the real problems of the world, Milei stated."
The "Pact for the Future" was the main focus of the Summit for the Future, which marked the beginning of the high-level week for the U.N. General Assembly this week. This pact represents the culmination of policies and mission statements issued by U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres over the past few years.
The objective of the pact is to broaden the mandate and concentration of the U.N. and its members to manage "global shocks," including interruptions to international commerce, migration, or financial systems.
Milei compared the new policies of the organizations to the original mission and achievements of the U.N., criticizing the celebration of countries who "punish their women for showing their skin in the same house that has voted against Israel, the only country in the Middle East that defends a liberal democracy."
Milei's challenge to the General Assembly and Guterres' pact was praised by Israel's returning Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, who referred to Milei as "a true friend of the State of Israel."
"In this hall where Israel was falsely criticized all day, you showed bravery and stood up for Israel!"
If the current agenda fails, the U.N. members must determine if the program was ill-conceived from the beginning, as Milei suggested.
"He contended that we should embrace this reality and modify our actions. He asserted that the same outcome consistently results from left-wing ideas, and when individuals choose to act differently, they have no alternative but to limit, suppress, or eliminate their freedom."
"Milei stated that in Argentina, we have witnessed firsthand the consequences of following a path of envy and sad passion, which led to poverty, anarchy, and a complete absence of freedom. However, there is still time for us to make a different choice and take a different direction."
Milei concluded with his frequently used phrase, "Long live freedom, damn it! Thank you very much."
