In Rajasthan, India, a 25-year-old deaf and mute man named Rohitash Kumar was declared dead at a hospital without a post-mortem examination, as reported by The Times of India.
After it was confirmed that Kumar was alive during his cremation on Thursday afternoon, his family reportedly took him to a hospital where he passed away early Friday morning.
The three doctors who declared Kumar dead at the Bhagwan Das Khetan district hospital have been suspended, according to the newspaper report.
According to the Daily Mail, which cited the AFP news service, Kumar died after suffering an epileptic seizure and flatlining while doctors were performing CPR on him.
"A witness at the funeral pyre told ETV Bharat that the situation was nothing short of a miracle. Everyone was in shock as he was declared dead, but there he was, breathing and alive."
In Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan, a government official, Ramavtar Meena, described the incident as "serious negligence."
He stated that those responsible will face action, and their working style will be thoroughly investigated.
Meena added that a committee had been formed to investigate the incident.
