Nurse Letby, who is already serving a life sentence for the murder of two babies, is now being questioned about additional baby deaths.
Seven newborns were reportedly killed by a 34-year-old man, who also attempted to murder seven more.
On Wednesday, police announced that former British nurse Lucy Letby, who is currently serving a life sentence in prison for murdering seven babies in her care, has been questioned regarding additional infant deaths.
Last year, Letby, 34, was convicted of murdering newborns and attempting to kill seven more between June 2015 and June 2016 while working in the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester, England, making her Britain's worst serial child killer of modern times.
Earlier this year, she was convicted of an eighth count of attempted murder at a retrial.
Police were conducting further investigations into Letby's work as a nurse at the hospital and another one in Liverpool, where she had trained, to determine if there were any additional victims at the time of her conviction.
Cheshire Police confirmed that Lucy Letby was recently interviewed in prison under caution regarding the ongoing investigation into baby deaths and non-fatal collapses at the Countess of Chester Hospital and the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
The force said further updates would follow at the appropriate time.
An investigation is ongoing to examine how the killings were not detected and to evaluate the hospital's response to doctors' concerns about Letby prior to her arrest.
Some experts have criticized the medical and statistical evidence presented by the prosecution in Letby's case, with some media questioning whether she might be the victim of a miscarriage of justice since her trials.
Her attempts to overturn her convictions have been rejected by London's Court of Appeal.
