Mideast conflicts are a 'blessing or a curse,' Netanyahu warns about Israel's 'long arm.'
Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, criticized the UN as an "antisemitic swamp."
In New York, at the United Nations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the Middle East conflicts as a dilemma between "a blessing or a curse," while cautioning Iran's "tyrants" about Israel's capability to safeguard and retaliate against itself.
"Israel's soldiers have fought back with incredible courage and heroic sacrifice, as Netanyahu stated, and there is no place in Iran or the entire Middle East that the long arm of Israel cannot reach."
Netanyahu spoke before a partially empty General Assembly, with some delegates leaving, but those who remained gave him thunderous applause before his speech. The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, was absent from the speech, as he was hosting a global health security event on the sidelines of UNGA.
He disclosed that he almost missed the U.N. High-Level Week, but he felt compelled to "correct the record," which entailed presenting the global dilemma.
Netanyahu brought families with loved ones held hostage by Hamas terrorists in Gaza to New York and once again called for their freedom, emphasizing that he will not stop until his mission of bringing them home is complete.
"Israel yearns for peace, but faces savage enemies who seek our annihilation, and we must defend ourselves against those savage murderers."
Netanyahu presented the issue as a dilemma between "a gift or a curse," with Iran's "unyielding hostility" being the "curse" to the "blessing" of peace between Arab countries and Israel.
"A normalization deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel appeared imminent. However, the occurrence of Oct. 7 brought about a setback. Netanyahu stated that thousands of Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists from Gaza entered Israel in pickup trucks and motorcycles, committing heinous acts."
The prime minister emphasized Iran's aggression, stating that if not addressed, it will pose a threat to every country in the Middle East and numerous countries worldwide.
"Netanyahu warned that Iran aims to spread its extremism globally through funding terror groups and developing nuclear weapons."
"The world has been ignoring Iran's internal repression and external aggression for too long. This must stop immediately."
Netanyahu urged the U.N. Security Council to impose sanctions on Iran and take all necessary measures to prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons.
He expressed disappointment that the organization seems to have a clear preference for the Palestinians over Israel, with many countries likely to support any policy that harms Israel.
"Netanyahu stated that for the Palestinians, the U.N. House of darkness is their home court, as they are aware that in this swamp of antisemitic bile, there's an automatic majority willing to demonize the Jewish state on anything in this anti-Israel, flat Earth society. Any false charge or outlandish allegation can muster a majority."
The U.N. will be viewed as a contemptuous force until Israel is treated like other nations and the antisemitic swamp is drained, according to him.
