Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the Brazilian President, is currently in an intensive-care unit recovering from surgery for an intracranial hemorrhage, as announced by the Sirio-Libanes hospital in a statement early on Tuesday.
The 79-year-old leftist leader underwent the procedure after experiencing headaches that doctors attributed to a fall at home in October.

Brazil’s presidency has yet to issue any comment.
After the accident, Lula canceled a trip to Russia for a BRICS summit, leaving him with a visible cut on the back of his head, slightly above his neck.
A press conference will be held at 9 a.m. local time to discuss the surgery, as stated by Sirio-Libanes.
