On Thursday, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, accused Hamas of reneging on a cease-fire agreement to free captives and halt the ongoing conflict that has persisted for over a year.
Netanyahu's office stated that his Cabinet will not convene to endorse the Gaza cease-fire agreement until Hamas concedes to their "last minute crisis."
Hamas was accused by Netanyahu's office of attempting to renege on the agreement in order to obtain last-minute concessions.
The Israeli Cabinet was set to ratify the deal Thursday.
On Wednesday, President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the deal would be implemented in three phases during a news conference.
Biden announced that the first phase of the cease-fire in Gaza will last six weeks and will involve the withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas, the release of hostages held by Hamas, and the participation of Americans in the hostage release. Biden expressed his pride in this development and eagerly anticipated welcoming the released hostages back home.
Biden announced that Israel would release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, allowing Palestinians to return to their neighborhoods in all areas of Gaza and a surge of humanitarian assistance into Gaza would begin.
