The Biden administration has not yet stated how it will vote on the anti-Israel resolution proposed by Algeria.

The irony of Algeria, known for its anti-Israel stance, proposing a resolution at the U.N. is reminiscent of the famous quote by late Israeli Ambassador Abba Eban: "If Algeria presented a U.N. resolution stating that the earth was flat and Israel had flattened it, it would pass with a vote of 164 to 13, with 26 abstentions."

Several quarters, including a leading Republican U.S. senator, have expressed outrage over the proposed resolution.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that this resolution is one of several attacks on Israel being planned at the United Nations, aimed at weakening the incoming Trump administration and Republican Congress before they can take action.

He stated that he would collaborate with his Republican colleagues and President Trump to reverse these measures, which may involve reassessing the U.S.'s relationship with the U.N. and the Palestinians, drastically reducing aid, imposing sanctions on officials responsible, and countering governments and NGOs promoting or implementing them.

Last week, Planet Chronicle Digital reported that U.N. experts speculated that Biden's administration may attempt to replicate Obama's final blow to Israel, which resulted in a failed veto of an anti-Israel resolution in the final weeks of his presidency.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., spoke on Monday at the world body but did not address the pending draft resolution. However, she emphasized that the United States has been leading the way in achieving its objectives, including ending the war in Gaza, securing the release of hostages, and increasing aid to Palestinians. She also highlighted the need to avoid a broader regional war while countering Iran's terrorist proxies and activities, and demonstrating an unwavering commitment to Israel's security.

The U.S. State Department and the United States mission to the U.N. were contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for comment on the proposed draft.

The outgoing Biden administration is facing criticism from allies of Hamas over a scheduled Israel-bashing resolution at the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday. According to Anne Bayefsky, President of Human Rights Voices in New York, the United States has been working on the resolution for weeks, with leaked drafts appearing in news outlets Al Jazeera and Al-Arabiya.

The U.N.-U.S. operation is pretending to be about humanitarianism, but it is actually prolonging the war and the suffering of hostages by ignoring the actual root causes: Iran, antisemitism, and the illegal denial of Israel's right to self-defense. If adopted, it would be the fifth Security Council resolution President Biden has allowed to pass since Oct. 7 that doesn't even condemn Hamas.

Israel's Ambassador to the U.N., Danny Danon, criticized the draft resolution during a Security Council meeting, stating that any resolution that does not condition the cease-fire on the release of the hostages is abandoning the 101 hostages to the terrorists.

Danon stated, "The decision being promoted in this Council only supports Hamas and terrorism, and neglects the safety of Israeli citizens. We cannot let the U.N. limit our ability to defend ourselves, and we will not rest until all kidnapped individuals are returned home."
