Former Israeli defense minister claims Iran is planning a nuclear Holocaust, as regime suppresses information about atomic program.
The Biden administration's Iran containment policy is being criticized for being too weak.
Avigdor Lieberman, former Israeli Defense Minister, stated that Tehran aims to target the Jewish state with a nuclear Holocaust, amid allegations that the Biden administration is appeasing Iran's nuclear weapon development.
Israel's parliament member Lieberman stated on Tuesday that Iran intends to carry out a Holocaust against the Jewish people within the next two years.
"Israel will be attacked with the aim of destroying it from several fronts with tens of thousands of missiles at the same time, as Lieberman stated that we are in the midst of an Iranian extermination program."
Israeli Brig. Gen (Res.) Yossi Kuperwasser, the former head of the research division in the Israel Defense Force's Military Intelligence, stated to the Israeli TPS news service that the Biden administration is avoiding any confrontation with Iran due to fear that if they move into confrontation, confrontational Iran may actually move towards having a bomb. However, Kuperwasser believes that Iran's leaders might believe that Trump will become the next president and try to break out a bomb now.
"They possess sufficient resources to manufacture the fissile material required for three bombs in a month."
This week, there was a surge of regulatory, diplomatic, and congressional actions against Iran for its ongoing development of an unlawful atomic weapons program.
The IAEA censured Iran on Wednesday for not cooperating with its inspectors. The resolution was initiated by Britain, France, and Germany. The Wall Street Journal reported that the Biden administration tried to dissuade the Europeans from rebuking Iran at the IAEA.
The State Department spokesman, Matthew Miller, refuted the Wall Street Journal report, stating that it is not accurate. The department has not lobbied any country to vote against or abstain from any resolution related to Iran's nuclear program. Instead, the department is intensifying its efforts to put pressure on Iran through a combination of sanctions, deterrence, and international isolation to counter its destabilizing behavior and prevent it from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
"I believe we should maintain harmony with our E3 partners, as we value our unity with them and expect it to persist."
The U.S. agreed to join the Europeans in reprimanding Iran at the 11th hour Wednesday after facing mounting pressure.
The U.S. State Department was queried by Planet Chronicle Digital regarding the prediction made by Lieberman about Iran's use of nuclear weapons, the diplomatic sources who stated that the EU did not wish to reprimand Iran at the IAEA, and whether the Biden administration intends to impose new sanctions on Tehran.
On Friday, the British, French, and German governments sent a letter to the United Nations Security Council detailing Iran's alleged violations of the 2015 nuclear agreement. Despite this, the European countries did not announce a "snap back" of U.N. sanctions on Iran for its alleged violations of the accord. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the official name for the Iran nuclear deal, will expire on October 18, 2025.
In 2018, the Trump administration withdrew from the deal due to the former president's belief that it was a "terrible" agreement that merely temporarily limited Iran's nuclear weapons development capabilities.
Ali Shamkhani, a senior aide to Iran's Supreme Leader, is now overseeing the nuclear talks for the Islamic Republic. In a defiant post on Thursday, Shamkhani stated, "From the JCPOA until the recent IAEA BoGs meeting, the US and the European Troika have been trying to manage Iran's reactions to their misbehavior by creating false hope in Iran. They have never been successful and never will be."
This week, Republican Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., submitted a resolution to the U.N. Security Council, reaffirming their commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
On May 11, Iran had 313.2 pounds of uranium enriched up to 60%, an increase of 45.4 pounds from the previous report by the U.N. watchdog in February. This is just a short technical step away from weapons-grade levels of 90% purity.
