Could Obama copy Biden with a December surprise at the UN to punish Israel's Netanyahu?

'It is clear that this is a deliberate attempt to safeguard the Biden administration's unsuccessful policies from being associated with Trump.'

The Biden administration may adopt a resolution proposed by 10 non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to put an end to Israel's war against Hamas terrorists in Gaza, which could serve as a strong message to the Netanyahu government.

The relationship between Biden and Netanyahu has been strained since Israel launched its self-defense operation against the U.S.-designated terrorist group on October 7, 2023.

There are speculations among U.N. experts that Biden may seek revenge against Netanyahu at the U.N., similar to how President Obama did in 2016 by allowing an anti-Israel resolution to pass before President-elect Trump took office.

It is clear that this move is an intentional effort to safeguard the Biden administration's failed agenda from being Trump-proofed. Once a Security Council resolution is passed, the Russians and the Chinese will veto any attempt to revoke it. All Americans, regardless of their political leanings, must remind President Biden's lame-duck administration that they did not vote to relinquish control to the Russians, the Chinese, and the United Nations.

The proposed Security Council draft resolution fails to secure the release of more than 100 hostages being held by the terrorist organization, including Americans. The anti-Israel measure recalls President Obama's punitive council action against Israel in the lame duck phase of his administration.

Al Jazeera was accused by the Israel Defense Forces of employing Hamas terrorists as reporters after a version of the draft was leaked to them.

Danny Danon, Israel's ambassador to the world body, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that the proposed resolution is shameful as it does not link the call for a cease-fire with the release of the 101 remaining hostages held in Gaza by Hamas. He added that the resolution is one-sided and should not pass.

Russia's UN mission on Wednesday expressed its full support for the Gaza draft resolution introduced by the ten non-permanent members of the UNSC, which demands an immediate, unconditional, and permanent cease-fire and the release of all hostages. Additionally, Russia called for the draft to be put to a vote without further delay.

The five permanent members of the body are Russia, the U.S., China, France, and Britain.

Obama was accused by Israel of allowing a council resolution in 2016 that condemned Israel for building Israeli homes in Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank. There are concerns among supporters of the Jewish state that the White House may use its remaining time in office to punish Israel again.

On Thursday, Danon informed a group of journalists that although he believes the U.S. will not allow the resolution to pass, there may be attempts to isolate and undermine Israel during the transition period, as occurred in 2016.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that the Biden administration will not replicate President Obama's enabling of an anti-Israel resolution by the Jewish state in 2016, and that any resolution that comes before the Security Council will be evaluated based on the interests of the United States.

The State Department received a press inquiry from Planet Chronicle Digital regarding the recently proposed draft resolution.

The United Nations and the Biden administration are planning to harm Israel permanently, despite their public show of peace. President Obama set the precedent for bypassing Congress and the election results in 2016 by allowing the U.N. to carry out its plans during the lame-duck term. The ultimate goal is to undermine American sovereignty in favor of the U.N.'s will.

"A U.N. Security Council resolution demanding an unconditional and permanent cease-fire before the release of every hostage and the end of Hamas rocket fire, with Hamas still armed and committed to genocide, is not pro-peace. It is a guarantee of more war. The U.N.'s idea of a cease-fire is directed at Israel, as Israel ceases and Hamas fires. A democratic United States must shut down these negotiations, period."

The 10 non-permanent members of the council are Algeria, Ecuador, Guyana, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, and Switzerland.

"The Security Council's Trump-proof plan involves a continuous barrage of U.N. reports and meetings on Israel's 'compliance' with the resolution," Bayefsky said. "Make no mistake: A Trump-proof production line of secretary-general reports ensures that the U.N. will be constantly throwing gasoline on any American attempt to put out the fire. U.N. reports, meetings, and press conferences are not mere hot air. They fan the flames of hate and antisemitism until they blow up not only in Israel and Europe but right here on the streets and campuses of the USA."
