Blinken's visit to Israel comes under scrutiny as the Biden-Harris administration faces criticism over Jerusalem security compromises.
Israel had previously refused to share US intelligence regarding the elimination of Hezbollah's terrorist leader.
Antony Blinken, the Secretary of State, arrived in Israel on Tuesday amid a significant security breach concerning Jerusalem's plans to retaliate against Iran.
The documents were first released online through a Telegram channel, claiming they were leaked by someone in the U.S. intelligence community. Later, the U.S. Department of Defense confirmed the authenticity of the information, which was entirely gathered through satellite image analysis.
Blinken aims to put an end to the conflict in Gaza and the war against Hezbollah in Lebanon, following a drone strike by the Iran-backed Hezbollah group to assassinate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On Oct. 8, 2023, Hezbollah joined Hamas a day after the Gaza-based terrorist organization invaded Israel. The U.S. State Department classifies Iran's regime, which is the world's worst state-sponsor of terrorism, as sponsoring both Hamas and Hezbollah. On Oct. 1, 2023, Tehran launched a massive missile barrage on Israel.
"There is a reason why Israel avoided informing the U.S. in advance about the elimination of Nasrallah and the pagers operation…"
The revelation of Israel's strategy against Iran has set off national security alarms among top Israeli and American analysts.
Israel's Channel 12 chief political analyst, Amit Segal, explained to Planet Chronicle Digital why Israel did not inform the U.S. about the elimination of Nasrallah and the pagers operation. He stated that Israel has been experiencing systematic leaks of its operations over the past year, which has raised concerns about the potential consequences of its secrets being made public and used against its enemies.
In Beirut, Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah's leader, was killed by Israel in a targeted strike in September.
Richard Goldberg, a former National Security Council official during the Trump administration, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that the leak of sensitive information and the possibility of further leaks is a national security crisis for the United States. The identity and motive of the leaker are yet to be confirmed, but the event necessitates a comprehensive review of who has access to intelligence and how we safeguard against political and ideological radicalization among those with access to top-secret information. Goldberg, a senior adviser at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, added that a top-down policy exists to limit, persuade, and sometimes threaten Israel through various tactics. However, pro-Hamas and pro-Iran propaganda amplified by President Biden, Vice President Harris, and certain white nationalist influencers can have severe consequences in radicalizing elements of society against Israel and Jews.
On Monday, John Kirby, the White House National Security Council communications adviser, stated that President Biden was "deeply concerned" about the possible leak of U.S. intelligence material regarding Israel's war planning against Iran's clerical regime.
Netanyahu will likely discuss the leaked U.S. intelligence documents on his 11th trip to the Middle East since the Hamas attack in October, which resulted in the deaths of nearly 1,200 people, including more than 40 Americans.
