The United States is seeking Aqil for his alleged involvement in the bombing of a U.S. Marines barracks in Beirut in 1983 and his suspected link to the kidnapping of American citizens in Lebanon during the 1980s.

Aqil was in a Dahiya district building that was hit by a missile, according to Hezbollah officials.
At least nine people were killed and about 60 others were injured in the blast, which destroyed two apartment buildings, according to Lebanese health officials.

Yesterday, the IDF targeted several infrastructure sites in southern Lebanon, including areas of Chihine, Tayibe, Blida, Meiss El Jabal, Aitaroun and Kfarkela, as part of Israel's ongoing aggressive campaign against Hezbollah.
This week, Israeli security forces destroyed hundreds of electronic devices used by Hezbollah members for communication, resulting in the deaths of 12 and injuries to over 2,800 others.
