Authorities apprehend establishment offering popular pizza with a covert addition of cocaine.
Over 3 pounds of cocaine was allegedly found at the pizzeria manager's apartment, according to police reports.
Police said it was "one of the best-selling pizzas."
On Monday, the German police conducted a raid on a well-known pizzeria in Düsseldorf, alleging that it offered cocaine as an additional topping.
According to the BBC, citing criminal director Michael Graf von Moltke, the local police launched an investigation into the restaurant following a tip-off from food inspectors.
The 36-year-old pizzeria manager was arrested by police at his apartment. Upon arrival, the manager threw a bag of drugs out the window, which landed in the arms of the police officers below.
Over 3 pounds of cocaine, 400 grams of marijuana, and nearly $290,000 were discovered by officers.
The manager, who was arrested by police, was later released and resumed selling his famous pizza.
German authorities discovered a drug ring in the City of Düsseldorf after further investigation of a restaurant. Two cannabis plantations were found and around 360 plants were seized. In addition, weapons, money, and luxury watches were also confiscated.
A dozen suspects had their homes and businesses raided as a result of the investigation.
A 22-year-old was among the three individuals apprehended for allegedly spearheading the operation.
The pizzeria manager was rearrested by police while attempting to leave the country. He is currently in custody.
