Australian PM deletes critical tweets of Trump after winning election: 'Least constructive president'
As Australia's 26th prime minister, Kevin Rudd served from 2007 to 2010 and then again in 2013.
Australia's former prime minister and current US ambassador Kevin Rudd has deleted tweets critical of President-elect Donald Trump after the election. Rudd had previously described Trump as "the most destructive president in history" in a 2020 post, according to NDTV. He served as Australia's 26th prime minister from 2007 to 2010 and was re-elected in 2013 after a brief stint as foreign minister. Australia has recently announced plans to ban social media for kids under 16.
According to a statement from Ambassador Rudd's office, he was a regular commentator on American politics before becoming the head of an independent US-based think tank. In respect for the office of President of the United States, and following the election of President Trump, he has removed his past commentaries from his personal website and social media channels. Ambassador Rudd has since congratulated President-elect Trump on social media site X, including one post where he claimed he called him personally.
In his November 6 post, Rudd congratulated Trump on his election victory and discussed the importance of the Alliance and the Australia-US relationship in various areas, including security, AUKUS, trade, and investment. The AUKUS agreement is a trilateral union between the US, Australia, and the UK, established in 2021, aimed at promoting security in the Indo-Pacific region. The Rudd office did not provide any additional comment to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiry.
