A video of Trudeau dancing and singing to "You Don't Own Me" at the Taylor Swift concert in Toronto has gone viral on X.
The city of Toronto is approximately 280 miles west of Ottawa, the Canadian capital, and 330 miles west of the Montreal district where Trudeau serves as a representative.
Montreal Gazette reports that on the same night, anti-NATO protesters threw smoke bombs and paraded through the city streets with Palestinian flags. They torched cars and confronted police.
During the protest, protesters threw explosive devices and metal items at officers and at one point, they burned an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The image of Trudeau dancing amid protests in his hometown caused outrage online, with some social media users comparing him to Nero, the infamous Roman emperor known for "fiddling while Rome burned."
A Toronto MP, Don Stewart, criticized the prime minister in a social media post.
"In Montreal, violent protesters run amok, while the Prime Minister dances to the tune of the Liberal government's creation."
The MP called for the restoration of law and order, secure streets, and thriving communities in Canada, as it was once known and cherished.
On Saturday, Trudeau denounced the protests and called them "appalling."
"The Canadian leader condemned acts of antisemitism, intimidation, and violence on the streets of Montreal last night."
"Local police are in communication with the RCMP. Consequences must be imposed, and rioters must be held accountable."
Planet Chronicle Digital has reached out to Trudeau's office for comment.
