On Wednesday, South Korea was denounced as a "fascist dictatorship" by North Korea in response to President Yoon Suk Yeol's unsuccessful attempt to implement martial law.
After Yoon's attempt was foiled by North Korea's legislature, the regime finally commented on the issue through its state-run news outlet, KCNA.
According to KCNA, the regime of puppet Yoon Suk Yeol, which was facing a severe governance crisis and an impeachment crisis, declared martial law and used its fascist dictatorship to wield guns and knives without hesitation.
Yoon Suk Yeol, who faced the possibility of being kicked out, committed an insane act that resembled a coup during the military dictatorship several decades ago and drew strong condemnation from all walks of life, including the opposition party, further igniting public anger demanding impeachment.
KCNA stated that the international community is closely monitoring the martial law incident in South Korea and believes that it has exposed weaknesses in the country's society. Additionally, the agency warned that Yoon Suk Yeol's political career may suffer as a result of the incident.
Despite the legislature's earlier rejection of Yoon's martial law enforcement, he faced an unsuccessful impeachment vote this week. However, probes into Yoon's power-grabbing actions continue.
While in detention for the president's martial law declaration, South Korea's former defense minister, Kim Yong Hyun, attempted suicide but was stopped by officials.
On Saturday, the main opposition party, the Democrats, will attempt to impeach President Yoon again with a second vote.
At a parliament committee meeting on Wednesday, Shin Yong Hae, commissioner general of the Korea Correctional Service, revealed that Kim, a detainee at a correctional center in Seoul, attempted to take his own life overnight but was stopped by officials before he could succeed.
