A month after the discovery of a Walmart employee's body inside a walk-in oven at a Canadian store, foul play has been ruled out.
No further updates are expected from the police, according to their statement.
After a month, police have concluded that the death of a Walmart employee discovered in an oven of a store in eastern Canada was not suspicious.
The Halifax Police Department stated that the investigation into the death of the 19-year-old woman discovered inside the Halifax Walmart's walk-in oven on Oct. 19 found no evidence of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
Halifax Regional Police Constable Martin Cromwell stated on Facebook that the department does not believe anyone else was involved in the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
Cromwell stated that they lacked specifics to share and anticipated no further updates in the near future.
"Cromwell stated that the public's interest in the case and the possibility of unanswered questions should be acknowledged. He urged caution in public speculation, emphasizing the harm it could cause to the grieving loved ones of the woman involved."
Gursimran Kaur, a Sikh immigrant, has been identified as the victim by the Gurudwara Maritime Sikh Society, despite police not yet releasing her name.
Additionally, the group established a GoFundMe page that surpassed $194,000 in funds for Kaur's family, but it is no longer active.
A young, beautiful girl with big dreams came to Canada at the age of 19, as stated in a post on the website.
For the past two years, Kaur and her mother have both been employed at Walmart.
Kaur's mother tried to find her daughter after not having contact for an hour, but the society executive dismissed her concerns, assuming she was assisting a customer.
Kaur's phone was reportedly also not reachable.
As it was unusual for her to switch her phone off during the day, mother started panicking. She sought help from the onsite admin.
Tragically, her daughter's body was discovered in a walk-in oven in the store's bakery after several hours.
"The society executive described the horror that the mother felt when she opened the oven and someone pointed it out to her. The family's sufferings are unimaginable and indescribable."
At the time of her death, both Kaur's father and brother were reportedly in India.
"Halifax police shared an update with the family and offered condolences. "Our thoughts are with them during this challenging period," the police said."
A Walmart spokesperson informed Planet Chronicle Digital that the store would remain closed indefinitely.
On Monday, the store reopened, but the bakery oven was taken out.
Walmart did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment on the latest news.
