The liberal think tank's close ties to the Biden administration and far-left policies could pose a threat to the Harris campaign.
The Biden-Harris administration's connections to the Center for American Progress were exposed, while Democrats accused Trump of having links to the conservative think tank's "Project 2025."
The Biden-Harris administration has been collaborating with a prominent liberal think tank through a revolving door of employees working to transform progressive policy recommendations into executive actions and legislation, which could negatively impact the Harris campaign.
In the Biden administration, the Center for American Progress (CAP) is widely regarded as the "most influential" think tank, with the group proudly claiming that it has successfully transformed at least 10 policy proposals into "executive action and legislative measures."
At least 20 times, Patrick Gaspard, the CAP president, has visited the Biden White House from December 2021 to January 2024, including five solo meetings with top Biden officials.
At least 60 alumni from CAP have joined the Biden administration, including Neera Tanden, who previously served as president of CAP and has served in multiple roles in the Biden administration.
In May 2023, she was appointed as the "Assistant to the President and Domestic Policy Advisor," replacing Susan Rice, as announced in a White House press release.
In 2022, John Podesta, the founder and chairman of CAP, was appointed by President Biden as a senior White House clean energy czar. He was responsible for managing approximately $370 billion in climate spending allocated by the Inflation Reduction Act.
Earlier this year, John Podesta, the former campaign chairman for Hillary Clinton, was appointed by Biden to serve as his top climate diplomat after John Kerry resigned. However, this appointment faced criticism from top Republicans due to concerns about his past ties to China.
Tung Chee-hwa, a top official of the Chinese Communist Party, was reportedly connected to a Planet Chronicle Digital journalist who referred to him as a "friend" and took several calls from.
Months before Biden entered office, CAP's influence began to shape his administration, with six of its employees joining his transition team in key departments.
If Vice President Kamala Harris continues to lead the Biden administration into a second term, CAP's organization may push a policy agenda on several key progressive issues.
Demand Justice, a left-wing dark money group founded by Harris' senior campaign adviser Brian Fallon, has advocated for both limiting the tenure of Supreme Court justices and increasing the number of justices on the court, which CAP has also expressed support for.
The liberal think tank has joined forces with Demand Justice, who planned a $10 million campaign against conservative Supreme Court justices this year, including opposition research on potential picks and advocating for ethics reforms at the high court, according to Politico.
CAP claims on its website that the Supreme Court has removed its mask this term by granting unconstitutional de facto immunity to future presidents who act illegally and by weakening the power of public agencies and Congress to safeguard Americans from the abuses of right-wing special interests.
CAP has advocated for a range of left-wing policies, such as censoring speech, providing student loan bailouts, implementing reparations, enforcing DEI mandates, using federal funds for abortion, and phasing out gas-powered vehicles.
Despite multiple reports highlighting consumer complaints about the cost and lack of charging stations, CAP stated in a 2024 post that U.S. automakers' skyrocketing profits and expanding domestic manufacturing provide everything they need to help the country switch from fossil fuel-powered vehicles to electric.
Biden's campaign messaging was influenced by CAP before he dropped out of the race in 2022, according to a Washington Post report. The Post stated that Biden's labeling of Trump as "ultra MAGA" was the result of a six-month research project led by his top aide Anita Dunn, who has previously worked with CAP.
At least 20 visits to the Biden White House have been made by CAP Action Fund's president, Navin Nayak, according to a review of White House visitor logs by Planet Chronicle Digital.
Ron Klain, Biden's former chief of staff and a CAP Action Fund board member, has frequently commended their work on his Twitter account.
Since her time as California attorney general, VP Harris has collaborated with the Center for American Progress, participating in various events hosted by the liberal think tank. Her sister, Maya Harris, also joined the group as a senior fellow, as stated in a 2013 press release.
Maya has worked tirelessly in various arenas to make the United States more inclusive and help all Americans reach their potential, and Tanden is excited about her involvement with CAP.
CAP, despite its close ties to the Biden White House, condemns Project 2025 on its website as a "far-right threat to America" that it alleges will "guide a far-right presidency."
On Sunday, a spokesperson for the CAP dismissed the Heritage Foundation as a "no longer a think tank" in a statement to Planet Chronicle Digital.
"The Heritage Foundation's creation of fake digital content and promotion of lies about election integrity, as exposed in yesterday's New York Times story, coupled with their embrace of authoritarianism and their president's threat to launch a potentially violent "second American Revolution," makes it clear that Heritage is no longer a think tank, but rather an extremist group."
In recent weeks, Harris has frequently criticized Trump regarding Project 2025 in advertisements.
Despite being staffed with several high-level individuals who have previously worked with Trump, he has denied having any direct role with Project 2025.
On Sunday, a spokesperson for Project 2025 informed Planet Chronicle Digital that the organization does not represent Donald Trump or his campaign and is still focused on providing policy and personnel recommendations for the next conservative president.
"Since 1980, the Heritage Foundation has been publishing its Mandate for Leadership, and President Reagan distributed copies of the book to his cabinet during their first meeting. The Left only complains because they are used to recommending liberal presidents and feel threatened by the fact that two can engage in this practice."
The spokesperson stated that the only reason the Left is struggling with Project 2025 is that their winning ideas are supported by the American people, while their own recommendations, which are causing harm to the country, are not popular.
Earlier this year, Danielle Alvarez, a Trump campaign spokesperson, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that "Agenda 47 and the RNC Platform are the only policies that President Trump supports for a second term."
"The DNC and Team Biden are spreading falsehoods and instilling fear because they lack any substantial proposals for the American people," she stated. "This is the same organization that deceived Americans about Joe Biden's cognitive abilities for years."
The Biden White House and Harris campaign did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
